Go

As my head hits the pillow and the day comes to a close,
I hope that you’ll join me. You’ve seemed a bit engrossed
In a life on the outside, where I must presuppose
About friends that you’re meeting and details you won’t disclose.
So go. Go my dear.
Enjoy your adventures. I promise I won’t interfere.
So go. Go and roam-
The world beyond these borders. I’ll be here when you get home.
As I stare out the window while gripping my cell phone
With a text I can’t send. No, you need to be alone
With the friends I haven’t met at areas unknown.
Just an innocent secret I must have overblown.
So I said go. Go and tour.
Find your new horizons. That’s what they are out there for.
So go. Go and grow-
If this will make you happy. You still have many oats to sew.
You had to escape. I know things have gone wrong,
But why couldn’t I come along.
As I lay in bed thinking of places you’ve explored
And memories you’re making that I am not there for.
And I practice the faking. My smile can’t look forced
When the whole world is waking and you’re walking in the door.
So I said go. Go and live-
Out your aspirations. It’s the best gift I can give.
So go. Go somewhere.
Search for something better. I’ll be here if it’s not there.
