Final Final

We slipped away as per our scheme
Closed the curtain, stared into the camera, a photogenic team
We let nostalgia be our theme
It left us with four pictures that helped prove it’s not a dream.
She told me memories are pictures we always see
As I remembered back to when I didn’t feel like me
But something brought us here, and now I’m filled with urgency
To not over-think everything while trying just to be
We stood in back of the concert hall
With people in front of us; sacrificing visual
I didn’t crane my neck at all
When she leaned up next to me; I’ve never felt so tall
She told me memories are the songs we’ll always play
As I remembered back to when I used to dread new days
But something brought us here, and now I’m hoping that it stays
As close to me as possible, and never goes away
Never goes away…
She told me memories are the paintings we’ll amass
As I remembered back to when I lived inside the past
And now we made it here, and every moment goes so fast
With every memory patiently waiting while this lasts

Evicted

My home’s become a place I fear,
Where I have all but disappeared-
With the moments that we’ve shared…
All taken down. The walls are bare.
The paint has dried. I’m terrified of what’s implied…
Did I miss your notice that I’ve been evicted?
If I leave, what’s achieved? I’ve been evicted.
Hide the memories in this place.
Keep them boxed up to have more space.
Our lives will seem less intertwined,
But you still live inside my mind.
You rearrange and thrive on change as we estrange…
Did I miss your notice that I’ve been evicted?
If I leave, what’s achieved? I’ve been evicted.
I never wanted space to rent.
I thought this was a permanent agreement.
Did I miss your notice that I’ve been evicted?
If I leave, what’s achieved? I’ve been evicted.
Close the door? Are you sure? I’ve been evicted.
If I leave, what’s achieved? I’ve been evicted.

There are times when we won’t be eloquent,
When what’s on our minds can’t seem to find the exit,
But nothing’s fine. Why are we ok with this?
Oh, oh, oh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
Oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
It’s in our eyes, the things that need to be said.
It’s no surprise that we choose silence instead.
Unsatisfied, but it’s the talking that we dread.
Oh, oh, oh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
Oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
Oh, oh, oh.
-Intending to converse another day.
Oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
-Pretending it will all just go...
We need conversation.
Avoidance is easy, but look where we are.
We need conversation.
Our voices need hearing, or we’ll drift apart.
We need conversation.
Oh, oh, oh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
Oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
-The feeling when we don’t know what to say.
Oh, oh, oh.
-Intending to converse another day.
Oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
-Pretending it will all just go....
We need conversation.
