I make the drive.
My car does 60, my heart beats 95.
My mind races and I'm alive.
It's not quite 9.
A half an hour early is on time
As I reach the finish line.
At your place:
A studio apartment full of grace to match your face.
I ring the bell
And I slow down my breathing. Can you tell?
(Because I think I hide it well).
The handle twists
And something deep inside my chest insists
That my past has led to this.
At your place:
A studio apartment full of grace to match your face.
And I'm at your door,
And God himself could not deliver more.
It's everything that I hoped for and more...
The door's ajar.
I memorized my script inside my car
And I hope that you learned your part.
I take my cue.
I try to hide this smile breaking through
Until I see that you have one too.
At your place:
A studio apartment full of grace to match your face.
And I'm here inside,
And God couldn't recreate this if he tried.
And I'm alive. I'm alive...

Window Seats
04:38
|
|||
She takes her pictures with her phone
(They're easy to erase).
No film to show that she's alone
(It's written on her face).
As she sets out towards the unknown,
Her only comfort places
Are window seats on flights she's flown on
Searching for homebase.
And I won't be the one to judge her while this lasts.
She orbits Earth. The world still turns;
Again I watch her pass me by and wave.
Again, as I say "Bye. Be safe, wherever you are."
She doesn't need a GPS
To help her get around.
She says the more lost that she gets,
The more that she feels found.
She doesn't bother with regrets
(She leaves them on the ground).
As she takes off on jumbo jets,
She's never looking down.
And I won't be the one to keep her from her quest.
She orbits Earth. The world still turns;
Her plane sets in the west.
Good-bye, I wave.
Again, as I say "Bye. Be safe, wherever you are."
She takes her pictures with her phone
(That way, she keeps them close).
As she sets out towards the unknown,
Deep inside, she knows...
That I won't be the one to open up her eyes.
She orbits Earth. The world still turns
As I look to the skies.
Good-bye, I wave.
Again, as I say "Bye. Be Safe."
Again, as I say "Bye, above."
Again, as I say "Bye, wherever you are."

Morse Code
04:04
|
|||
With every second ticking,
The fan rotates 5 spins.
I haven't blinked for minutes,
And I'm up to 710.
And I hope to beat my record,
Set the night you left again.
All night anticipating light;
Wide-awake and waiting.
I have your space prepared,
So why don't you take the next flight home?
The ice maker is heaving
In my freezer tray.
I'm having trouble breathing
As my sighs get in the way.
And my pulse has been misleading;
A morse code that says...
All night anticipating light;
Wide-awake and waiting.
I have your space prepared,
So why don't you take the next flight home
So I can sleep?
I count your days away instead of sheep.
My eyes are sunken-deep,
So why don't you take the next flight home...

Gravitate
03:38
|
|||
A noisy room that I ignore,
And it falls silent as my eyes concentrate more.
Across the floor,
You're moving in slow-motion as my heart rate soars.
And I can't help but feel that my future's been revealed.
And I can't help but know where this will go...
A gravity controls our decisions as a whole,
And it's bigger than us both.
An empty chair; minutes advance
Tacked onto years that I've waited
For just one more chance,
And for your entrance:
An opportunity to relive our first glance
And there you are.
Suddenly, seven passing years is not that far.
And as I catch my breath, I realize that we never left.
And as the moment goes, we both know...
A gravity controls our decisions as a whole,
And it's bigger than us both.
As we wait, there's something great
That gravitates us closer.
And every year, it becomes clearer.
Something here has grown.
A year might pass. It's not the end
Because I know not to live by "if"s; I live by "when"s.
That's how it's been,
And I'll prepare myself to do it all again.
And as we say "Good-bye", we realize it's a lie.
And as we go away, parts of us will stay.
And as we seperate, we both gravitate.
It's bigger than us both, and we both know...
A gravity controls our decisions as a whole,
And we still have more to go.

I see you in rearview,
And I don't want memories like this.
Seat belt clicks. I feel sick
Thinking of the chance I'll miss.
Insert key, same story;
Ignition turns, and I deflate.
The door shuts, and my gut
Tells me turn back now and stay.
It's not too late.
But I drive away. I drive away.
I press the gas and drive away.
I drive away, away...
I see you in rearview,
But you're closer than you appeared to be.
The door opens, you climb in,
And now my destination's here with me.
As we drive away. We drive away.
We press the gas and drive away.
We won't look back. We drive away, away...
I see you in clear view
As you are sitting next to me.
